Deus Ex: Human Revolutions - Directors Cut

♥ I like moments when our dear friend the Wii U gets to feel special. ♥

Square Enix just released a new behind the scenes trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. In this video you will get to hear about some of the exciting new changes to the Director’s Cut from key developers David Anfossi, Antoine Thisdale, Steve Szczepkowski, Jean-Francois Dugas, and Émile Pedneault. You will also get a first look at the game in action and an inside look at the philosophy behind the development of Human Revolution – Director’s Cut.

In addition to an abundance of new features, the Director’s Cut also offers approximately 8 hours of developer commentary and a 45 minute “making of” video that that reveals secrets and background info on the creation and production of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Why does this make Wii U happy you ask? But it is coming exclusive for the Nintendo Wii U later this year. The decision was made to use Straight Right as their partner has they have been very proactive to propose new ideas because they are used to the WiiU platform.
We feel working with the Wii U with Deus Ex was an immersive experience.
As with other games they looked at the use of the Wii U control as a means of creating a different experience with your game play. The game pad is more than a control or a second screen but an extension to the player themselves. They have added additional game play, more story plot, fresh graphics, increased A.I. and much more all for the love of Wii U players.

Sonic Free Rider Nightmare

Being a gaming family we are always looking for different games to play together or gifting each other with games that support each persons own special gaming genre. Right now our littlest gamer is all about Sonic the Hedgehog. Any Sonic game he can get his hands on he wants to play for hours. That was until he was given Sonic Free Riders (released in Nov 2010) as a surprise. Surprise to all of us, it has turned out to be a family nightmare.

In a nutshell Sonic Free Riders, is said to provide full-motion body control which is suppose allows you to twist and turn your way through a range of courses in an action-packed Sonic experience. This is true, when it actually works.
Kinect’s unique motion sensor means Sonic Free Riders will see family and friends controlling their fully customisable hover board or bike by twisting, turning and jumping in an exhilarating race to be the first to cross the finish line.
You can choose from any of your favorite Sonic characters, or even your own Avatar to play the game. You can reach out and grab a variety of pickups along the course that will give you an advantage as you race. By throwing, shaking, or swinging your arms to launch your items, you can gain the competitive edge over your rivals in high octane single or multiplayer races. All of this sounds wonderful but seeing that the controls for not just the game play but the menu itself are so choppy and unresponsive that it drives you crazy you are never able to fully enjoy all these amazing features the game has to offer. My poor son is only 3 so when he startec throwing a little tantrum about getting the game started I was very close to accusing him and saying he just didn’t know how to operate the Kinect features. So I took over and with in 5 minutes I was throwing my own little tantrum on the floor and cursing Sega. Calibrating is a temporary fix until ADD kicks in and the game forgets what to do again.

There are a lot of neat features to this game and it really seemed like a  game we could enjoy but it all comes crashing down every time the game fails to recognize a turn, ignores a jump or refuses to let you use an item. I would say now … hopefully Sega provides a patch to fix the controls, but seeing that it is Spring of 2013 and the complaints we have are the same that reviewers had when the game launched over 2 years ago, nothing is going to change. If you are not convinced and want to try the game out for yourself, give me a few days, our copy will be available on eBay shortly.

Bioshock: Infinite Review

Elizabeth: Booker, are you afraid of God? Booker: No…but I am afraid of you. This is, in my opinion, is just one of the more compelling conversations between Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth in Irrational’s masterpiece of a game Bioshock: Infinite. There are many games that promises a lot of hype, promises a gripping story, promises characters that we, as the player, will “care” about. Then at the end of the day what happens, none of these! All the promises fall flat. Well, I am excited to say that this is not what has happened this time, in fact the total opposite. What you get from Bioshock: Infinite IS a gripping story, characters you become attach to, and hype that lives up to expectations. This is Bioshock: Infinite

Set in 1912, players assume the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the flying city of Columbia on a rescue mission. His target? Elizabeth, imprisoned since childhood. During their daring escape, Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond — one that lets Booker augment his own abilities with her world-altering control over the environment. Together, they fight from high-speed Sky-Lines, in the streets and houses of Columbia, on giant zeppelins, and in the clouds, all while learning to harness an expanding arsenal of weapons and abilities, and immersing players in a story that is not only steeped in profound thrills and surprises, but also invests its characters.
Bioshock: Infinite is apart of the Bioshock franchise as the prequel of the series. Both Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2 had really good story lines, however it just seems that Bioshock: Infinite’s storyline was just more cared for. What we loved Here are some the things we loved about about Bioshock: Infinite. First off, the setting of Columbia. From the moment you reach the floating city of Columbia, you are in awe. Columbia is vast. One of the questions that arises is how exactly do you travel around the city of Columbia? Well, when the undulating road intersections aren’t possible, just hook on to the Sky-Line system, a sort of grapple hook railway system, that intertwines throughout the city. But how did Columbia come about? Well, because of political upraising, Columbia secedes from America and vanishes from sight into the skies beyond the clouds. While Columbia is a beautiful place, and it really is, visiting Columbia soon reveal that there is something “dark” about this floating “paradise”.

The view in Columbia is beautiful. Columbia's Sky-Rail System

Secondly, we love the characters of Bioshock: Infinite. Characters can make a good game great. You are introduced to and play as Booker DeWitt, a detective with debts to pay and with no way to pay them, you get approached by a stranger who asks you to find and bring back a girl and if you successfully accomplish this, all your debts with be erased. A clean slate. You head to Columbia and there you find your girl, Elizabeth. A young girl, locked in a tower all her life. Why? All we know is that there is something really special about Elizabeth. She possesses a power that is both amazing and terrifying. She has never been outside of her tower and what she knows of the world is from books. The only other interaction she has is with Songbird. Songbird is a creature with tremendous strength, and is Elizabeth’s watchers, protector, warden, and companion. Songbird’s one drive is watching over Elizabeth and at times there is almost an air of a boyfriend-like reaction.

Booker and Elizabeth from Bioshock: Infinite

Behold, Songbird

More about Elizabeth. There are games I have played where I have had an A.I. companion, whether it’s to journey with them to a location or they are there to assist you, and the A.I. is just a chore or just fades into the background soon to be forgotten. Irrational has done a fantastic job of not making Elizabeth like those. Elizabeth has so much personality that you actually start to forget that she is just an A.I. There are times when you turn to her expecting to be able to talk to her. One of the things I love what Irrational did was if you just stood around, instead of Elizabeth just standing there, she will actually go off on her own and interact with the environment and the NPCs. Her help during fights is simply seamless and nonintrusive. Elizabeth is just amazing!

What We Hated This might be an isolated issue, but I experienced a couple of game freezing glitches. It happened about six times through out the game. All while doing the same thing, acquiring some gear. When ever I picked up a new gear, the information about the gear would come up then nothing. Everything would just freeze, requiring a full restart of the xbox 360. That’s pretty much it. Other than that, the game was near perfect.   So, should you pick up Bioshock: Infinite? The only reason for you to pick up Bioshock: Infinite is if you want to play a game that has a great story line, dialogue, characters, and setting. On the hardest difficulty, Bioshock: Infinite is a challenge and for an added challenge, Irrational has put in place a 1999 Mode which this there to give the best of us another level of difficulty. If you are a resident of the Bioshock franchise, then this is a no brainer. If you are a new comer, then Bioshock: Infinite is the perfect introduction to the series.     We give, Bioshock: Infinite 9.5/10   -Sil3ntX
